I last stayed at this property in 2009 when my Love was dying at Trinity Hospital just up the street. It was a very good experience that time (staff, maintenance, comfort, etc.), and the emotional connection is what made me choose it this past weekend when I returned to my hometown for the weekend. However, I will likely never stay at this property again.
I had to give one star because I can't give zero. I reserved a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room. My 21 year-old son and I spent the night in a room that reeked so badly of stale cigarette smoke that we awoke several times during the night literally gagging. Everything we had with us reeked of smoke when we woke up, even our hair. The sheets, the towels, the plastic cups on the sink. We skipped breakfast as we were both sickened by the stench. The hostess blew me off at the desk when i tried to address the situation claiming only the non-existent manager could help me. $100 for the worst room I have ever stayed in and the worst service I have ever had. I booked here due to the decent reviews posted to the their site. Either the reviewers were heavy chain smokers and didn't mind the throat-burning stench or they have employees posting reviews. This place is a great place to avoid.
After making the reservation online, I called the hotel to confirm that the internet wasn't down. I am in 24/7 contact with my clients, so this is very important to me. However, upon checking in, I was told that it had been "in and out" all evening. I was never able to get online in the entire 12 hours I was there. Different hotel staff members told me different things about how to access it, and none of it was right. I was STEAMING mad.
This was a great, affordable hotel. We had to travel out-of-state for a wedding, and our budget was tight. I was wary of the low price tag, but we were very pleasantly surprised! The staff was nice, helpful, and cheerful (even late at night). Would definitely recommend to friends, or visit again.
The room is a bit dated but is clean and well maintained. The hotel is a decent and quiet budget hotel. We didn't use the pool on this visit, but have in the past, and it's also clean and well maintained. I do wish the continental breakfast ran a bit later and had more hot food options, but having a room where my sister can smoke is worth that downside. The hotel has plenty of parking, free WiFi for guests, and mini fridges and microwaves in room.
The bathtub did not drain well. After just a short shower (maybe 3 minutes), I was standing in about 3 inches of water. This is just gross. I asked for a manager when I left and was told that none was on duty at the moment.
Not to much of an upgrade from motel kind of dirty dresser drawers we're gross breakfast has to be the worse hotel breakfast I have had out of 80 reservations his year on the positive side it was quiet and I felt safe
